Bon Voyage!

Thursday 21st August

On Friday we left our house in DB after the delivery men had come to take everything away. We moved into the Conrad Hotel for the weekend which was very nice. We had our leaving drinks at the GBar on the top of IFC, the view was spectacular and clear. It was lovely to see everyone before we left. Mummy and I stayed out until 10.30pm!! and daddy was allowed out even later!

For our last day in Hong Kong we headed down to Stanley on the south coast and then on Sunday we said goodbye to Hong Kong and headed off to Singapore. It was very sad to leave Hong Kong (my birthplace - how cool!!) but also very exciting. We are staying in a serviced apartment near to the river, it is very nice and has a fun playroom and a swimming pool.

We have spent most of the week either looking for apartments or wondering around shopping malls (well we are in Asia!). We have a lovely agent called Germaine who has shown us around lots and lots of apartments in different parts of Singapore and we have come up with a shortlist so fingers crossed by the next post we should have a new home! Here's hoping we manage to stay there longer than my current record of 3 months.

I have had an exciting week of eating! Mummy found some Ella's kitchen pouches which are yummy and full of organic veg for me to have on my travels. I am still enjoying breakfast and have tried oat cereal now, I have also had my first mashed up banana and yoghurt for lunch. Daddy made me some chicken casserole as well which is very very yummy - it had chicken, onions and garlic in (as well as other veg) which was all new for me, but I gobbled it down.

I am still practicing changing positions and I am slowly getting stronger at pushing up as the picture at the top shows. I can also stand very briefly on my own and a bit longer if I am holding on to something.

Well that is all the news from Singapore for now - we have not had much chance to explore yet but will update you when we do.

Take care
Love Eleanor xx

Bye bye Hong Kong

Thursday 14th August 2008

This was our last full week in Hong Kong and mummy and daddy have been very busy sorting things out for the big move.

We had a lovely day on Sunday as lots of people came over from the main island to DB for our bye bye lunch. The picture is of me and Chris at the bye bye lunch. It was really nice to catch up with everyone and have a day chilling out by the sea. Then on Monday we met the WAG's that were in town to say bye bye to them and have our last afternoon tea, we went to the 4 Seasons again as this was our favourite!!

On Tuesday we spent the day on the main island doing lots of jobs and shopping. We also had to get daddy a new passport, as his had run out of room after only 2 years!! I have been jet setting a bit over the last 6 months but think that I might have a long way to go to compete with daddy.

I have had lots of fun eating this week. I have added broccoli to my lunch times now which is really yummy. I am also on 3 meals a day now and am having fruit and yoghurt for my breakfast which I really love - yummy!!!

I am still practicing sitting up and getting stronger everyday, although when mummy and daddy try to pull me up to sit I always try to stand up instead - far better as I can see more! I am also getting better and managing to pull the velcro of my nappies and undo them, usually at the wrong time, but never mind!

Mummy had her hair cut this week in the hope that I would not be able to pull it, however I am very determined and can still just about reach it. I also went to the doctors with mummy and daddy - and I got my own back, as they had to have their travel jabs before Singapore and I had already had mine done - hee hee. Daddy had 2, but poor mummy had to have 4! I gave them lots of hugs afterwards, but kept hugging mummy too hard and hurting her arm.

Today we had the removal men in to pack away all of our things and we have a house surrounded by boxes, they even packed up mummy and daddy's lightbox and sofa!!! This will be my last night in my nice cot for a while, but I am sure it will be exciting to get all our belongings back in Singapore.

Well my next post will be from Singapore. See you there!

Weather

Thursday 7th August 2008

Yet another busy week. On Friday we had a family day out to the Museum of Coastal Defence on HK island. It is near North Point and right on the eastern edge of the island and was quite exciting as we had not been to that part of the island yet. I had a lovely time going around the rooms in my Bjorn (but think that I might have fallen asleep at one point).

We have had quite a chilling out week. The weather has been lovely, so we have made the most of it and headed down to the pool quite a bit. I love the water now and really enjoying splashing daddy - although I always end up splashing myself as well, never mind!

I am still enjoying my purees, even the courgette and I am slowly gobbling more and more down. Mummy insists that I do not need to make so much noise when I eat, but I think all the "yummy" noises and trying to snort bits up my nose that have missed my mouth, make the whole dinner experience much more fun!! Mummy has also let me have a bit of her toast, which i was not that keen on (far too bitty and crumbly), but I did have a little bit of her strawberry and really enjoyed that. Think I am definitely a sweet, not savoury, baby.

Mummy and I had our lunch with the WAG's on Monday which was really nice, it was Italian. I did fall asleep but some nasty people on the table next to us scraped there chairs really loudly when they left and woke me up - nasty people!

On Wednesday, we woke up to scary weather. We had a typhoon number 8 which means it is very windy and rainy and everything shuts down, even the ferry so we were marooned on the island!!! Although it sounds scary, it was actually quite boring as we were stuck indoors for most of the day.

I have been busy learning new skills as well this week. I am now getting very good at rolling over from my tummy to my back, which is nice when I am sleeping as it means I am much comfier. I am also getting much better at sitting up, although I still need to be supported I can sit for a few seconds before I wobble too much one way and slowly fall over!! I managed 13 seconds today, which was an Ellie record.

On a negative note this week, my teeth have decided to make the final push for freedom and they are hurting me lots. I have been chewing on everything and anything and we are all hoping that they fully appear soon, as otherwise I am worried that my thumb might disappear from too much chewing!!

Finally, mummy and daddy went out tonight for their anniversary, so I stayed at home with the babysitter. I had a really nice night and only woke up briefly once to say hello! Mummy and daddy had a lovely long relaxing meal at Caprice on the main island So all in all a successful evening.

The pictures show me chilling out with mummy and daddy and attempting to take myself out for a walk in the Bjorn, when I got too bored waiting for mummy and daddy to get ready!! Well next week is our last in Hong Kong, so I am sure it will be manic and a little sad, although it will be exciting to be moving on to live in my second country at the grand old age of 6 and a half months!!

Kisses to all,
Eleanor xx

PS Hope you are all managing to watch the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony tomorrow night, I will be in bed but am going to watch the highlights so I can work out what discipline to enter in the 2020 games - is there a gold medal for messiest eater?!
